The Body Shop sources all of the cocoa needed in their cosmetics from Kuapa Kokoo under the Community Trade initiative. This initiative is aimed at creating trade to help people in the third world.
The founder of the Body Shop, Anita Roddickon her maiden visit to Bayerebon No. 3 saw the dilapidated nature of the only school that serves about seven villages and donated funds to the Kuapa Kokoo Farmers Trust to construct a better structure for the school.
The Roddicks also shared in the vision of Kuapa Kokoo to own a Chocolate company in the United Kingdom and therefore owned shares in the then Day Chocolate Company. In 2007, they donated their shares to Kuapa Kokoo Farmers Union and this helped increase the union’s share holdings in Divine Chocolate to 45%.
